Val & Viv is a residential interior design studio based in Los Angeles, Ca. We believe great design provides the ability to change how you feel in a space. However, somewhere along the way, interior design became synonymous with luxury, extravagance, and exclusivity. We want to change that. Our approach to design is rooted in the belief that a beautiful and thoughtful home should be accessible and welcoming to everyone.
Home is more than just a place. Home is where life happens, milestones are celebrated, and cherished memories are made. Therefore, our job is to see the potential you may not see yet. We help elevate your home, so it feels special in a way that makes sense for you. Our passion is designing spaces to be functional, beautiful, and personal but more importantly, to feel considered. We appreciate the luxury and craftsmanship behind details that matter. Even more so, we appreciate knowing when to splurge and save in a way that never feels like a compromise.

About Me
My name is Valerie Calderon, but you can call me Val. I am the head principal designer for Val & Viv. Growing up in East LA, I enjoyed drawing, crafting, and rearranging my room. I had a passion for design without ever even realizing it. However, where I’m from, “interior designer” was an unfamiliar term as it is often associated with luxury. As an adult, I found myself on a different path working in sales & customer service for 10+ years before finally deciding to pursue my passion in interior design. Throughout the years, I helped design homes and apartments for friends & family. This helped build my portfolio and kickstarted my design career. I decided to elevate my expertise by studying interior design at the Interior Design Institute. Since then, I have been working professionally as an interior designer for 5+ years with experience in residential, commercial, and multi-family design. My professional design experience combined with my sales and customer service skills, makes me an efficient problem-solver and communicator. All of which attribute to an easy and seamless design experience.
I currently live in the San Gabriel Valley and am happily married to my husband Kyle. We are enamored with our new baby girl. Hence the name Viv, in Val & Viv. On my free time, I enjoy spending it with my family and friends, trying new restaurants, thrift shopping, and unwinding at the beach.
